Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi 2006 is a full-bodied, Bordeaux-style red wine from the Maremma sub-region of Tuscany, central Italy. Fattoria Le Pupille is a unique estate run by Elisabetta Geppetti in the medieval village of Pereta in Maremma. Credited with putting the tiny appellation of Morellino di Scansano on the fine wine map, Geppetti is also noted for having created one of Maremma’s emblematic Supertuscans, Saffredi. The 2006 vintage of this celebrated wine is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Syrah. "The 2006 Saffredi is the bombastic, kaleidoscopic wine it has always been. In fact at times it resembles a barrel sample, given its superb vibrancy and freshness! Dark wild cherries, herbs, graphite, spices, tobacco and leather come together beautifully in this focused, powerful Saffredi. Today the 2006 is decidedly virile and youthful, but there is no doubt it has the sheer depth of material to drink beautifully to age 20, and likely beyond. The 2006 is a marvellous Saffredi, but patience is required." Wine Advocate, 2011
