Having only released its first vintage in 1979, Le Pin is one of the newest names in Bordeaux. Owned and operated by the Thienpont family (of Vieux Château Certan), production is truly miniscule by Bordeaux standards and it is one of the most highly sought-after wines in the world. Made from 100% Merlot, the 2017 is an exceptionally concentrated and tightly wound release. The palate offers more than the nose at this stage, with wonderfully ripe black fruits, liquorice, spices, dried flowers and stoney minerality. Superbly well balanced and incredibly long, this should have at least 20-30 years of cellaring potential.

Made from 100% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Le Pin opens a little closed and broody, slowly unfurling to offer notes of baked plums, Black Forest cake and raspberry pie with touches of iron ore, crushed rocks, roses and star anise plus a waft of cardamom. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers the most jaw-dropping, exquisitely ripe tannins with amazingly seamless freshness and layer upon layer of red and black fruits, finishing with incredible energy and depth. The 2017 Le Pin gained tremendously in élevage. Ripe, racy sumptuous to its core, Le Pin is super expressive today. Sweet floral notes and a kiss of French oak perk up the dark red cherry fruit in a Pomerol endowed with notable textural resonance. As always, Le Pin is a wine of real personality and character. A Mould-Breaking Pomerol

Le Pin is one of the newer names of Bordeaux having only made its debut in 1979. The estate takes its name from the pine trees that first stood outside the winery. Situated on Bordeaux's Right Bank, in the prestigious appellation of Pomerol. Production is truly miniscule by Bordeaux standards and Le Pin is thus one of the most highly sought-after wines in the world.

The estate unveiled a state-of-the-art new winery in 2012 and produces superb red wines from 100% Merlot vines that are an average of 40 years old. Beautifully opulent wines, with a seductive, velvety texture and floral complexity. Organic practices are adopted in the vineyard and wines can be aged for up to 22 months in new oak.
