The 1993 Le Pin is clearly deeper in hue than the disappointing previous vintage. There is noticeably more fruit intensity on the nose with blackberry and black plum aromas, subtle hints of smoked bacon and burning embers. It has fine definition and lift. The medium-bodied palate has superb acidity. The 1993 is very well poised with strawberry and raspberry leaf notes and then unravels toward a rather dry and attenuated finish. It is reaching the end of its plateau now. There were 600 cases produced. Tasted at Bipin Desai’s Le Pin vertical in Los Angeles in November 2008. A Mould-Breaking Pomerol

Le Pin is one of the newer names of Bordeaux having only made its debut in 1979. The estate takes its name from the pine trees that first stood outside the winery. Situated on Bordeaux's Right Bank, in the prestigious appellation of Pomerol. Production is truly miniscule by Bordeaux standards and Le Pin is thus one of the most highly sought-after wines in the world.

The estate unveiled a state-of-the-art new winery in 2012 and produces superb red wines from 100% Merlot vines that are an average of 40 years old. Beautifully opulent wines, with a seductive, velvety texture and floral complexity. Organic practices are adopted in the vineyard and wines can be aged for up to 22 months in new oak.
