This is the frst vintage of Le Petit Cheval Blanc to include Semillon (26%) in the blend. A gorgeous expression of the classic Bordeaux Blanc varietals, it exudes ripe tropical notes of pineapple and passion fruit followed by fragant floral aromatics. Rich and oily on the palate, showcasing layers and layers of citrus fruits, stone fruits, limes and wet stones. Drink now or age over the next decade.

The 2018 Petit Cheval Blanc charges out of the gate with vibrant notes of lime cordial, grapefruit, and white peaches, plus hints of chalk dust and white pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate is crisp and clean, with a steely backbone and a zesty, energetic lift to the finish. Lisa Perrotti-Brown9th February 2023

The 2018 Le Petit Blanc, the first vintage to include Sémillon, has an intriguing, well-defined bouquet of gooseberry, Nashi pear, glimpses of apricot blossom and praline emanating from the Sémillon. The palate is medium-bodied with good weight and a satisfying sense of harmony, plus a very slight oily texture. Not overly complex, but is taut and focused, leading into a lightly spiced, quasi-Alsace finish. Neal Martin1st March 2021

The Star of Saint-Émilion

With a history dating back as least as far as the 16th century, Château Cheval Blanc is considered by many to be one of the finest estates in Bordeaux. Located on the Right Bank in the celebrated Saint-Émilion appellation. One of only four wines to be ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the classification of Saint-Émilion wine, the estate has three main soil types: clay, gravel and sand. Red grape plantings are made up of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot and are used to produce wines with marvellous aromatics, with floral and smoky nuances, aged 100% in new oak.

In addition to the highly-coveted first wine, the estate produces a second red wine, Le Petit Cheval which made its first appearance in the 1988 vintage. A white wine, known as Le Petit Cheval Blanc, is also made, produced from predominantly Sauvignon Blanc together with a smaller percentage of Sémillon.
