Owned by Henri Parent, Château le Gay is a prominent Bordeaux wine estate in Pomerol. The estate encompasses 10.5 hectares of vineyards in a single holding, situated on clay and gravel soils in the northern part of the Pomerol plateau. Merlot dominates the vineyard, accounting for about 90% of the plantings, complemented by a portion of Cabernet Franc. This release is the Grand Vin from the 1989 vintage, a memorable year for Bordeaux, where both reds and whites, along with dessert wines, achieved exceptional quality.

Robert Parker
This is one estate where the 1989 outshines the 1990. The 1989 displays a youthful deep ruby/purple color, and dense, tannic, muscular flavors that are just beginning to reveal sweetness and opulence. Backward, youthfully tannic, and grapy for a 1989, this artisinally-styled, robust, muscular Pomerol will benefit from another 2-3 years of cellaring. It should keep for 15-20 years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
