Situated in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Le Boscq is a Cru Bourgeois wine estate which has been owned by Maison Dourthe since 1995. This release is the 2019 vintage of its red wine, a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The nose is dominated by seductive notes of blueberry and cassis fruit, followed up by some delightful slate and crushed stone texture that takes you along the palate.

The 2019 le Boscq exhibits rich aromas of cassis, cherries, tobacco leaf and underbrush, followed by a medium-bodied palate with creditable depth of fruit, lively acids and ripe but youthfully chewy tannins. It appears to possess some of the most aging potential of the various Dourthe wines. - William Kelley

The 2019 Le Boscq has an understated bouquet with blackberry and light bilberry scents, nicely defined with well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with brambly red fruit, grainy in texture, attenuating slightly towards the finish. Probably earlier-drinking than its peers. I suspect this might be closing down as it is well under my evaluation post-bottling. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Neal Martin1st February 2023
