Aged 100% in new oak barrels, this is a beautiful Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Domaine Henri Boillot. On the nose, strong presence of red berries with rose overtones. Bold on the palate, very delicate tannins, smooth mouthfeel, very long and dense finish. Drink from 2030.
Vinous
The 2017 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a light floral bouquet, although it seems very similar to the Echézeaux at the moment. The palate is fresh on the entry, then those wood tannins begin to take over midway through. I like the spiciness here and the grip, but the finish feels a little predictable. Henri Boillot

Father and Son

In some ways, Henri Boillot has one foot in the past and one in the present. His family domaine, which he manages with his son Guillaume, has a history dating back to the 1880s, but the wines produced from their Meursault-based winery are undeniably modern, approachable and ranked among some of the very best in the region. Alongside operating a highly successful négociant business, the Boillot family own around 14 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune including a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru monopole in the form of Clos de la Mouchère.

The winery don't shy away from the use of new oak and any overtly woody character is generally well balanced by ripe fruit. The Chardonnays range from citrus driven and fresher at the villages level all the way to ripe, tropical and creamy at the Grand Cru level. The reds are lighter and more elegant than they used to be with Henri's son Guillaume preferring a less extracted style of Pinot Noir.
