Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is one of the most recognized wine producers in Burgundy. The estate was founded in 1825 by Pierre Faiveley and it is currently run by seventh-generation Eve and Erwan Faiveley. This release comes from Latricières-Chambertin, one of the eight Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, where the Domaine owns a 1.2-hectare parcel. The 2010 is an elegant wine, delivering notes of strawberries, raspberries, sour cherries, aniseed and earthy undertones. Just at the beginning of a very long life.

Good bright red. Noble, airy aromas of piquant pomegranate, smoky minerality, white pepper and leather. Densely packed and folded in on itself; like a black hole in the mouth. Great verve and energy to the saline and crushed stone flavors. Uncoils slowly with aeration, with the finish displaying almost painful intensity and terrific mounting floral length. A great soil-driven Latricieres in the making.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2012

Exciting and racy and transparent. Very delicate. Real thoroughbred stuff. Firm finish. Very appetising with real race. But not big. (JR)Jancis Robinson11th January 2012
