The 2006 Château Latour is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. The aroma profile is concentrated and entrancing, featuring undergrowth, black fruits, graphite, and pencil notes. The palate is pure and precise, showcasing interwoven flavours of blueberry, blackberry, and black raspberry, all complemented by hints of pencil shavings. Available here in a magnum bottle.

The 2006 Latour shows some reduction on the nose, although it soon blows away to reveal pencil-shaving infused black fruit, wild hedgerow and light cassis aromas. The palate offers up a mixture of red and black fruit. This has a firm grip with an uncompromising backbone. Dense yet refined, it is refreshingly saline toward the finish, yet there are a few hard edges to be addressed. Tasted blind from double magnum at a 20-year retrospective at the château.Neal Martin7th February 2024

A Towering First Growth

Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.

The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
