The 1990 Château Latour is a legendary red Bordeaux blend from Pauillac, considered one of the finest wines of a superb vintage. It is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (typically around 75-80%) blended with Merlot (around 18-20%), and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The 1990 vintage in Bordeaux was marked by a hot and dry growing season, resulting in wines of immense power, richness and concentration. This Latour is known for its incredible complexity and longevity, displaying opulent dark fruit notes of blackberry and cassis, intertwined with classic Latour signatures of cedar, graphite and cigar box, alongside hints of truffle and liquorice. The 2000 Latour is very deep in color. The nose is backward and demands coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing intense black fruit, cedar, graphite and very subtle Japanese nori aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with an arching structure that grips the mouth. The tannins are a little bolder than the 2001. This unfolds swirl by swirl, with hints of licorice emerging with time, and fanning out audaciously on the finish. Neal Martin1st September 2021

When we first opened this wine, it leapt out of the glass with its rose petal aromatics, and I was sure it was going to be the wine of the night (it remained so for several of the group). For me it ended up slightly overshadowed by the remarkable 1986, but this is a 2000 that is seriously growing into its potential, after years of being extremely closed. Roasted capscium, sandalwood, creme de cassis, olive tapenade, creamy mid palate, a cushion of mint and cooling acidity running underneath the fruit. This will continue to deliver for another three or four decades. 100% new oak, and produced seven years into the Pinault era at Latour.Jane Anson30th May 2026

The 2000 Latour is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-brick in color, it sashays from the glass with gregarious notes of plum preserves, black currant pastilles, dried lavender, sandalwood, and new leather, giving way to fragrant wafts of aniseed, cigar box, and black truffles. Medium-bodied, the black fruit preserves and exotic spices flavors expand wonderfully in the mouth, complemented by a velvety texture and beautifully knit acidity, finishing on a lingering anise note. Chateau Latour
A Towering First Growth
Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.
The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
