Bordeaux First Growth, Château Latour, is one of the oldest wine producing properties in the appellation of Pauillac and has a history dating back to the 14th Century. 1990 was widely considered a superb vintage in Bordeaux and this is a deep, powerful and immensely complex release absolutely perfect for drinking now.

Finally, the 1990 Latour is a vintage that I have not drunk for five years. It is surprisingly youthful on the nose, with dense black fruit, cedar, violet petals and graphite, and it is less opulent than previous bottles. The palate is medium-bodied with beautiful poise, and the tannins are more polymerized than the magnum poured in Bordeaux in 2019, though still extremely long and composed on the finish. It is drinking perfectly now and will continue to do so for many years. Neal Martin25th October 2024

Good crimson with watery rim. Pure mineral and correctness. Great depths. Massive legs. Hidden depths but absolutely convincing that in there glory lies. Wonderful combination of suppleness and interest. Round and very powerful. No rough edges. Surely 90? (JR)

A Towering First Growth

Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.

The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
