Château Latour is one of the oldest Bordeaux wine producing properties in the appellation of Pauillac and has a history dating back to the 14th Century. It was classified as a First Growth in 1855 and is widely regarded as one of the most consistent of all the elite châteaux, with a reputation for wines of remarkable longevity. The `75 vintage is fragrant, ripe and rich. Boasting a silky texture, richness and fruit, with a fresh finish, pencil lead and leather complexity. Drinking beautifully now.

1975 was a great vintage apart from rains in mid-September and into the harvest period. Brick colored, the 1975 Latour has a mature nose of fallen leaves, tobacco, figs and oolong tea with a savory/meaty core and wafts of dried fruitcake. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant, refreshing and softly textured with a long, mineral-laced finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown28th February 2019

The 1975 Latour is a vintage that I have drunk several times, but this is the first from double magnum. The bottle brought to our table was showing some oxidation. Another is fresher with almost-glossy black fruit laced with liquorice—perhaps a bit heavy-handed for this First Growth, trying too hard to impress. The palate is concentrated, weighty and structured with thickset tannins, but for me it lacks the finesse of the 1970 or 1971. Others liked it better than I did! A Towering First Growth
Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.
The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
