Dating to the 18th century, Château Lamothe-Bergeron is a well-established wine producer situated between Margaux and Saint-Julien. The château`s grand vin was first classed as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in the 19th century, a title it still holds today. This 2015 vintage is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Very approachable now, round and fruity, with well-built tannins. The wine is available here in a generous Jeroboam.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and touches of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity but it just runs out of ideas in the last third. Up until then it was perfectly decent.
