Château Lagrange 2012 is a Third Growth Saint-Julien red wine produced from a large estate in the west of the appellation. It features a profile of blackcurrant and cedar with a medium-bodied texture and a structural frame of fine-grained tannins. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon which provides a linear acidity and a long mineral-driven finish. This 2012 release is characterised by its balance and its classical proportions and is currently in a peak window for consumption.

The 2012 Lagrange offers blackberry, raspberry, hoisin and leather aromas, nicely defined though not overly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and fleshy tannins, but it just takes its foot off the accelerator towards the finish where I am seeking more tension and backbone. Easy and gentle, I would drink this now and over the next five to eight years. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. Neal Martin27th September 2022

A blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2012 Lagrange is deep garnet in color. It offers mature black fruit notes of dried mulberries and blackcurrant cordial plus suggestions of cigar box, red loam, and tree bark. The medium-bodied palate has lovely freshness and firm, chewy tannins, finishing a touch hard.Lisa Perrotti-Brown25th July 2024
