Vinous
The 2005 Le Petit Cheval shows the aromatic intensity but also the power of the Grand Vin, all in miniature of course. Far from an easygoing second wine, Le Petit Cheval packs quite a punch. Mocha, tobacco, cedar, dried flowers and red berry fruit all open with a bit of coaxing. I would give this a good bit of air, as it is not especially forthcoming. - Antonio Galloni - The 1995 Lagrange was picked from 21 September until 5 October. This has quite a compact bouquet that needs aeration, eventually revealing attractive brambly red fruit mixed with sage and thyme, brown spices and sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and a rounded texture. The fruit seems to be finally drying out after 24 years, although there is commendable substance on the white pepper and clove infused finish. Enjoy this over the next four or five years. Tasted at the Lagrange vertical at the estate.
