Château Lafon-Rochet is a Fourth Growth estate located within the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The property was recently acquired by French-Swiss real-estate investor Jacky Lorenzetti, whose portfolio also includes Château Pédesclaux in Pauillac and Lilian Ladouys in Saint-Estèphe. This release comes from the 2001 vintage, which is often underrated, yet it delivers wines that are elegantly styled with a classic profile and impressive aromatic qualities.

Vinous
The 2001 Lafon-Rochet has a delightful bouquet with more fruit intensity, brambly red fruit, rose petals, touches of sous-bois, open and well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins, very lithe with fleshy red fruit, maybe missing a little structure on the finish, but for sheer drinkability, this comes recommended. Tasted at the Lafon-Rochet vertical at the property.Neal Martin1st June 2023
