Located between Château Lafleur and Château Gazin, Château Lafleur-Gazin is a Bordeaux family-run wine estate situated in the Pomerol appellation. The majority of its 8.5-hectare vineyard has the gravel soils that are typical of the top of the Pomerol plateau, and sandier soils on the slopes down towards the Barbanne stream. This is the 2019 vintage of its eponymous wine, produced from 100% Merlot. The wine is fresh and bright, delivering notes of black cherries, stony minerals, graphite, liquorice and earthy undertones.

Vinous
The 2019 Lafleur-Gazin has become more refined and focused on the nose of ample black cherry, raspberry and plummy fruit, touches of pressed violets and rose petals percolating through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fresh acidity, a slightly lactic texture and veins of dark chocolate complementing the finish. This will need time in bottle, but it should end up a fine Pomerol. Neal Martin1st February 2022
