Château Lafleur-Gazin 2015 is an expression from a respected estate in the Pomerol appellation. This vintage is predominantly Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, with the grapes sourced from varying clay and gravel soils. Vinification occurs in temperature-controlled vats, followed by 16-20 months of maturation in French oak, with a percentage of new barrels used. The result is a wine that displays a range of ripe fruit characteristics alongside structured tannins. Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix has managed the estate since 2021, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in its production.

The 2015 Lafleur-Gazin has a light nose of crushed strawberry, loam and tobacco. This is perhaps missing some vigor, but it's more cohesive than the preceding Lagrange (Pomerol). The palate has a touch of mint on the entry, light tannins and a little dryness creeping in with truffle on the finish. This is not bad, though I would drink it sooner rather than later. Tasted at the 2015 Ten-Year-On tasting at Bordeaux Index. Neal Martin3rd June 2025
