Château Lafleur-Gazin 1988 is a notable expression from the Pomerol appellation, situated between Château Gazin and Château La Fleur-Pétrus. The estate is owned by Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, which has maintained a focus on traditional winemaking techniques since 2021. This vintage, primarily Merlot, displays characteristics derived from the diverse clay, silt and gravel soils. The wine underwent vinification in temperature-controlled environments, followed by maturation in French oak, including a proportion of new barrels. As a result, this wine presents structured tannins and nuanced fruit profiles, suitable for further ageing.

Robert Parker
Initially, the 1988 was tannic, austere and lean, lacking both fruit and character. However, in the bottle, the wine has come alive, offering much richer fruit, a sexy, oaky component, and lush texture. Anticipated maturity. Now-1998. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
