Lafleur 2011 is a mature Bordeaux red wine from the legendary Pomerol estate, Château Lafleur. This 2011 vintage is a blend of roughly equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot, sourced from the estate`s gravel-and-clay soils. The 600cl format provides the ideal environment for a slow maturation, allowing the wine`s firm tannins and vibrant acidity to integrate perfectly over decades. It offers a profound bouquet of black cherries, violets and crushed stones, followed by a palate of immense precision and depth. Despite the challenges of the vintage, Lafleur produced a wine of remarkable purity that will outlive standard bottlings by many years.
100 Jancis Robinson
This amazing wine puts on a display of fireworks in terms of its aromatics, with a stunning nose of blue and black fruits, forest floor, flowers and earth. Dense purple, full-bodied, rich, moderately tannic and super-concentrated, this is a profound Pomerol that still needs another decade of cellaring. This is possibly the greatest Lafleur of the modern era, rivaling the 1982 and 2000. Forget it for another 5-10 years and drink it over the following quarter-century.Robert Parker29th June 2015

The 2005 Lafleur has always been a bit of a beast. It is clearly nowhere near its drinking window either on the nose or palate. Blackberry, gravel, wild heather and graphite scents reluctantly emerge on the nose, but it is a little surly compared to the 2008, for example. The palate is huge in terms of concentration and structure, exerting a vice-like grip with an uncompromising muscular finish. This perhaps harks back to the style of the Robin sisters in the 1970s? A magnificent wine albeit hard to love. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria. Neal Martin2nd September 2025

Pomerol's Other Superstar
Château Lafleur has come to be recognised as one of greatest producers in Pomerol, offering wines of incredible balance, purity and elegance, with distinct mineral character. A stand out name for Bordeaux's Right Bank, the estate also produces a second red, Les Pensées de Lafleur, produced from a 0.68ha plot with its own distinct terroir - resulting in a lighter, more fragrant style compared to the Lafleur.
Despite both wines being classic blends of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with 20% new oak, the result is two quite different expressions: for example the the dominance of cigar-box and graphite Cabernet Franc complexity in the Lafleur.
