Lafleur 2014 is a notable expression from the Pomerol appellation, recognised for its distinctive blend predominantly featuring Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard`s unique terroir, composed of clay and gravel, contributes to the wine`s complexity. This vintage displays an intriguing balance, with precise acidity and a structure defined by fine tannins. Noteworthy elements include subtle hints of dark fruits, herbs and earthy undertones. Lafleur is produced by Château Lafleur, a revered First Growth that has been in the hands of the Thienpont family since the 1970s.

Concentrated ruby in colour at the 10 year mark, and wow this is good, just mouth-filling black truffle, bilberry, olive tapendade, Cabernet Franc dominant in its floral violet and raspberry leaf curls, standing head and shoulders above most of the Pomerols in the vintage, lord of all it surveys. Has a sense of drama and restraint, then releases a saline juicy finish.Jane Anson8th February 2024
95 Vinous
The 2014 Lafleur is bright and lively on the nose with expressive red berries, briary and black truffle scents springing from the glass. This displays a little more energy than its 2015 counterpart. The palate has fine tension and a keen line of acidity, bright and energetic even if it does not possess the complexity nor the substance of other vintages. It is thus likely to drink earlier, though it still requires another five or six years. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria. Neal Martin2nd September 2025
94 The Wine Independent
Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2014 Lafleur needs a lot of swirling to coax out subtle scents of forest floor, menthol, and baked cherries, with emerging suggestions of iron ore, incense, and potpourri. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with seductive red and black berry preserves layers, framed by firm, rounded tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and minerally.Lisa Perrotti-Brown5th March 2024

Pomerol's Other Superstar
Château Lafleur has come to be recognised as one of greatest producers in Pomerol, offering wines of incredible balance, purity and elegance, with distinct mineral character. A stand out name for Bordeaux's Right Bank, the estate also produces a second red, Les Pensées de Lafleur, produced from a 0.68ha plot with its own distinct terroir - resulting in a lighter, more fragrant style compared to the Lafleur.
Despite both wines being classic blends of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with 20% new oak, the result is two quite different expressions: for example the the dominance of cigar-box and graphite Cabernet Franc complexity in the Lafleur.
