Château La Serre 2014 is a red blend hailing from the Saint-Émilion appellation. The wine is crafted from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Merlot imparting depth and a velvety mouthfeel, while the Cabernet Franc offers a backbone of acidity and nuanced aromas. Known for its age-worthy characteristics, this wine showcases the exceptional potential of the estate, which is owned by the influential Jean-Pierre Moueix, a renowned figure in the Bordeaux region`s viniculture.

A younger register of flavours here, where the tannins press in more clearly through the mouth as the wine travels through the palate. Just starting to open up, although still young, but you start to see the horizon, the possibilties. Really enjoyable, finely boned, still young, charming and seductive. There was rain here in September 2012, more than in the St Estephe and Pauillac area, but this is lovely, with freshly cured leather and tobacco leaf along with blackberry and raspberry fruits. 50% new oak. Arnaud d'Arfeuille started in February 2013, making this his second vintage back at the family estate. — Jane Anson, 3rd November 2021

The 2014 La Serre is a pretty, light- to medium-bodied Saint-Émilion to drink now and over the next few years. The flavors are a bit dried out, and the wine lacks the depth that is found in the more successful wines of the vintage.

The 2014 La Serre often shows well out of barrel, but regrettably I rarely encounter it in bottle. It has a light, tertiary bouquet with tightly wound black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with light grainy tannin, pretty blackberry and spice notes on the back-palate, although I have found other vintages of La Serre to show more substance and length on the finish. As such, drink this over the next two or three years. — Neal Martin, 31st March 2017

Smudgy crimson. Very fragrantly floral. A little mild and simple with a slightly green edge. A tad austere at present. (JR) — Jancis Robinson, 2nd April 2015
