La Serre 2005 is a Merlot-dominant red Bordeaux from the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. As a Grand Cru Classé, Château La Serre is known for its elegant and refined style, showcasing a terroir of clay over a limestone plateau. The 2005 vintage was a celebrated year in Bordeaux, producing wines of great concentration, power and structure. This bottling presents a bouquet of ripe black cherry, liquorice and cocoa, with notes of dried herbs and tobacco. On the palate, it has a polished texture with a fresh, vibrant character and firm, ripe tannins that promise further development.

The 2005 La Serre is oxidized and fully mature. That's a shame, as there is still good depth there. The wine just didn’t age well. Antonio Galloni1st April 2021
