Château La Réserve du Général 1995 is a distinguished Margaux from the revered Château Palmer, once serving as its second wine. A refined blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, it embodies the estate’s hallmark elegance and complexity. Now fully matured, this vintage reveals beautifully integrated tannins, ripe dark fruit, and a velvety texture, leading to a long, harmonious finish. Château Palmer ceased production of their second wine, La Réserve du Général, in 1997. This decision coincided with the introduction of Alter Ego de Palmer in 1998, the 1995 La Réserve du Général 1995 offers a rare glimpse into the estate’s legacy, making it a superb choice for collectors and lovers of classic Bordeaux.
Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. The 55 hectare estate is characterised by its mixture of fine and sandy gravels, together with clay soils. The key grape varieties are old vine Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all farmed biodynamically, resulting in superbly elegant, velvety wines with a wonderful capacity to age and evolve in bottle.
In addition to the first wine, Château Palmer, the estate produces a second red from specific plots, Alter Ego de Palmer. Created to be as equally terroir-driven and expressive as the Grand Vin, the Alter Ego is supple, rounded and more approachable in youth.
