The 2000 La Lagune was the first vintage to use a sorting table. It has a clean and expressive bouquet with redcurrant jam and raspberry preserved mixed with gravel and tobacco scents, nicely defined if not overly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, tightly wound black fruit tinged with tar and sea salt, leading to a structured and rather “square-jawed” finish that would have benefitted from more flesh. Tasted at the La Lagune vertical at the château. - Neil Martin - The 1995 La Lagune has a very light and simple bouquet that falls below what you would expect given the vintage. This just feels rather one-dimensional. The palate is very simple with light tannin and light red fruit, but clearly lacking much in the way of personality and it feels thin on the finish. Caroline Frey is not a huge fan of this wine and I can see why. A black mark for the decade.
