Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a renowned estate in Pomerol, owned by Jean-Pierre Moueix since 1952. Situated near Château Pétrus and Château Lafleur, it enjoys an excellent location in the eastern part of Pomerol. The highly acclaimed 2020 vintage of this wine is predominantly made from 93% Merlot, complemented by 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. At first, it appears closed, but it gradually reveals enticing hints of redcurrant jelly, fresh black cherries, and juicy blueberries, along with notes of red roses, wood smoke, crushed rocks, and a touch of dried herbs. The full-bodied palate boasts rich, decadent black fruits, fine-grained tannins, seamless freshness, and a long finish with a mineral lift.

The 2020 La Fleur Pétrus has a wonderfully precise and focused bouquet with vivacious black fruit, crushed stone and subtle violet scents. The oak is seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, almost Left Bank in style thanks to a seam of graphite. It's complex and engaging, maintaining cohesion and persistence on the finish. This is a superb Pomerol. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.Neal Martin12th November 2024
