Situated in the Pomerol appellation, Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a widely regarded estate producing elegant Merlot-dominant wines. Since 1952 the property has been owned by Jean Pierre Moueix, who also owns Pétrus. The wines are typically vinified in cement and stainless-steel vats, and then aged in a combination of new and old French oak barrels for 18 months. Here is a spicy and beautifully mellow find from the 1982 vintage.

Vinous
Medium red. Aromas of raspberry, minerals and menthol. Dense and minerally, with a creamy, old-viney texture; spreads out nicely to coat the entire palate. The finish initially was sweet and suave, but a green edge gave the wine a faint tannic dryness as it opened in the glass.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2002
