Le Fleur de Gay’s debut was in 1982 and is made from 100% Merlot from the oldest vines of Château La Croix de Gay. With some of the oldest vines in Pomerol, the wines are often wonderfully concentrated, rich and exuberant. 1994 was a complex vintage in Bordeaux but, of all the appellations, Pomerol fared the best.

The 1994 La Fleur de Gay, picked from September 19th, offers ripe red berry, wild hedgerow, miso and thyme aromas on the nose that is well defined but not the most vigorous. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, sturdy tannins and rather pinched dark fruit with a slightly severe, clipped finish that leaves you wanting more after the pleasurable bouquet. Tasted June 2011. Tasting note taken from the Pomerol book by Neal Martin.Neal Martin25th March 2025
