Le Dame de Montrose is the second label of Château Montrose, produced by the same painstaking winemaking process as the Grand Vin. The 2019 vintage is a classically restrained Saint-Estèphe, a blend composed of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Expect ripe dark fruits, herbs and tobacco leaves, complemented by graphite notes. Available here in half-bottles.

Vinous
The 2019 La Dame de Montrose has an open, fresh and energetic nose with blackberry and cedar scents, joined by black pepper and graphite with time. You might describe it as a "strapping" bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with graphite-infused black fruit, pliant tannins, edgy with a persistent and satisfying finish. This is very promising and quite sophisticated - a Deuxième Vin that has improved since bottling. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Neal Martin1st February 2023

Structure and Elegance
A veritable jewel of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, with a history that dates back as far as 1815, this Second Growth property spans 95 ha. The estate produces a marvellous second wine, La Dame de Montrose, as well as a third wine, now known as Tertio de Montrose.
Renowned for the ageability and polish of their wines, the vineyards of Château Montrose are planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, all farmed organically. The first wine, Château Montrose is produced as the result of rigorous selection from a predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Structured and tannic but with all the elegance and refinement of a Grand Cru Classé.
