La Conseillante 2015 is a distinctive Bordeaux blend, consisting of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine underwent 18 months of maturation in French oak, with approximately 70% of the barrels being new. On the nose, it reveals understated notes of damp earth, dark fruits and subtle floral hints. The palate is medium to full-bodied, showcasing a structured profile with a blend of plums, tobacco and spices. This vintage exemplifies the estate`s dedication to traditional winemaking, a practice upheld since its establishment in 1735.

Composed of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc and aged for 18 months in 70% new and 30% one-year-old French oak, the medium garnet-purple colored 2015 La Conseillante opens with reticent, earthy notes of dusty soil, garrigue, forest floor and iron ore with a core of warm plums, cassis, cigar boxes, star anise and dark chocolate plus a hint of violets. Medium to full-bodied with decadent fruit and a gorgeous plushness to the texture, the palate features impeccable poise and compelling depth, finishing on a lingering mineral note. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2015 La Conseillante has a vibrant, complex bouquet that soars from the glass with wild strawberry, blackberry, briar and black truffle shavings. There is more mineralité here compared to previous bottles encountered. The palate is very well balanced with wonderful poise and tension. It's harmonious and velvety in texture which disguises the backbone underneath. A deft sprinkle of black pepper enhances the finish and completes a marvelous La Conseillante. Love the juicy expression of brambled fruit, blackberry and black cherry, freshly cut herbs, cocoa bean, pomegranate, crushed rocks, woodsmoke, creamy but with enough steps on the brakes to keep the exuberance in check. Has further blossomed since I last tasted in 2021. 75% new oak, first year with Marielle Cazeaux as director and winemaker. 39.5hl/h yield.Jane Anson19th February 2025

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
