La Conseillante 2005 is a full-bodied red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. This vintage reflects a blend primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, presenting a profile of ripe black cherry and plum aromas complemented by an undercurrent of minerality. The wine demonstrates a harmonious balance between fruit and structure, revealing layers of complexity as it aerates.

The 2005 La Conseillante is a rich, heady Pomerol. Crème de cassis, lavender, chocolate, leather, espresso, licorice and sweet French oak infuse the 2005 with tremendous character. The 2005 is, naturally, a wine of its era. There is quite a bit of extraction and tannin, and yet the wine has aged impeccably. Time in the glass brings out energy and aromatic lift to round things out nicely. The 2005 just got better and better with time, so I suggest giving it a good bit of air. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade or so. Antonio Galloni1st April 2021

Displaying spectacular aromatics of mulberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit, a dense ruby/purple color, and sweet floral notes, in the mouth the 2005 La Conseillante is not as broad and powerful as Petrus, Trotanoy, Hosanna or Lafleur, but it is gorgeously silky, elegant and stylish. This medium-bodied, savory wine is a graceful, provocative and compelling Pomerol to drink now and over the next 25 years. Robert Parker29th June 2015

Effortlessly classic, with melted tannins at 16 years old. Soft leather, tobacco and white truffle, brambled raspberry fruits, with soft red cherry and blackberry. Smooth and integrated but still with a mint freshness on the finish. Effortless elegance and balance. Around 500 bottles left at the estate of this. This was Jean-Michel Laporte's second vintage, having arrived in 2004. 100% new oak, 3.82ph.Jane Anson8th November 2021

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
