La Conseillante 2010 is a Bordeaux red wine from the Pomerol appellation, presented in double magnum format. The exceptionally good 2010 vintage was characterised by massive tannins and deep fruit concentration which this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc captures with elegance. It exhibits a sophisticated profile of black raspberries, violets, chocolate and graphite. The double magnum format has acted as a time capsule, ensuring an exceptionally slow maturation. Its texture is silky and luxurious, leading into a long, fragrant finish.

The 2010 La Conseillante has been spellbinding since I first tasted it from barrel. It has an intense nose with black plum, cedar and graphite. It is vibrant and compelling with scents of camphor intertwined. Wonderful delineation; there are layers of aromatic complexity. The palate is beautifully knit with a touch of black pepper and thyme filtering through the black fruit. It retains so much energy on the finish as it fans out with class and verve. Magnificent. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the Icons of Bordeaux dinner at Legacy Records in New York. Neal Martin22nd May 2024

This is excellent quality, rich deep plum flavours, spicy, intense, full of character, incense, grilled plum and rosemary, highly charged yet with supple tannins and an edge of sweet red liquorice and creamy caramel. Tasted ex-retail not ex-château.Jane Anson10th October 2024

Chateau La Conseillante

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
