A difficult vintage in right bank, but La Conseillante produced a balanced, classically styled Pomerol to be proud of. Aromas of crisp red fruits on the nose & a touch of toasty oak on the palate.
94 Jane Anson
Striking and deft placing of fruits and fresh acidities, with this vintage you see why La Conseillante at the time had the reputation for beng the great elegant face of Pomerol. At 10 years old it feels balanced and effortless, with gentle white pepper spice and fine tannins that are firm but juicy and with plenty of charcater. Early harvest from September 8 to 22. 65% new oak, 35% one year old barrels. 42hl/h yield.Jane Anson8th November 2021

The quintessential elegant style of Pomerol, the 2011 La Conseillante offers copious aromas of raspberries, mulberries and spring flowers. Medium-bodied with pure fruit, seamlessly integrated tannin, acidity and wood, and a soft, velvety textured finish, this classic effort is ethereal in its elegance and precision. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Robert Parker30th April 2014

The 2011 La Conseillante has a backward but delineated bouquet with earthy, sandalwood and pencil box aromas, perhaps in need of a little more fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, good body, but it lacks a little tension and complexity. A more muscular Pomerol for sure, though it might improve with bottle age. Solid, but nowhere near the class produced under Marielle Cazaux nowadays. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.Neal Martin1st April 2022

Chateau La Conseillante

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
