La Conseillante is one of the highlights of the 2006 vintage on Bordeaux`s right bank. A medium bodied Pomerol with an opulent nose & palate.

Firm strict tannins, clear salinity on the finish coupled with dark berry fruits of cassis and bilberry. Tight on the finish, with curls of violet flowers, full of character and finesse. Just 200 bottles and one magnum left at the estate. 80% new oak, 20% one year barrel, 42hl/h yield.Jane Anson8th November 2021

The 2006 is relatively forward and seductive, as one expects La Conseillante to be, with a dark ruby/purple-tinged color and a beautifully sweet nose of black raspberries, plums, kirsch, cedar, and licorice. A broad, savory, seductive, full-bodied mouthfeel with superb ripeness, silky tannins, and terrific complexity make this an ethereal style of Pomerol. A must taste. Drink it over the next 15+ years.

La Conseillante has been doing everything very well since the turn of this century, and this is another example of just how strong these wines are. For older readers, the great vintages of the past (1982, 1985, 1989, and 1990) are a quintessentially seductive style of Pomerol that seems to represent a hybrid blend of a grand cru red Burgundy and a top terroir from Bordeaux.Robert Parker25th February 2009

The 2006 La Conseillante has a surprisingly rich and opulent bouquet that might lack complexity but goes for sheer hedonism. Mulberry, hints of fresh fig and prune, this is a La Conseillante that has avowed not to be outshone by the previous two vintages, though you can argue that it accomplishes that in rather obvious fashion. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannin. There is plenty of truffle tinged red fruit and an engaging rounded texture, but now it is beginning to lose its complexity and it feels just a tad monotonous against the splendid 2005. Tasted at La Conseillante vertical at the property. Neal Martin1st May 2018

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
