Château La Conseillante 1994 is a Right Bank Bordeaux produced by Château La Conseillante in the appellation of Pomerol. Château La Conseillante produces some of the most sought-after wines in Pomerol. Its Merlot-focused vineyards neighbour those of L`Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château-Certan and Cheval Blanc. Winemaker Marielle Cazaux has maintained the property`s upward trajectory since her arrival in 2015. "Aromatics merit a higher score in this dark ruby/garnet wine, which has a big, spicy, herbal, cedary nose with hints of pepper, sweet raspberries, and black cherries. The wine is medium bodied but slightly austere in the finish, no doubt because the tannins in the 1994 never achieved full phenolic maturity. Nevertheless, there is a lot to like in the wine, and with the right food, this wine will probably drink better than my conservative score suggests." Robert Parker, 2003

First Class Pomerol

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration.

The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
