L’Evangile 2015 is a blend of 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc, aged in 80% new oak barrels. This vintage reflects a hot growing season, where careful viticulture was necessary to manage berry shrinkage. The wine presents a deep garnet hue and exhibits intricate aromas including plum, chocolate, and hints of spice. On the palate, it reveals rich black fruit character, with a robust structure supported by firm oak tannins.

The 2015 L`Evangile is composed of 84% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc and was matured for 18 months in new oak barrels from Tonnellerie des Domaines (their own cooperage). Deep garnet-purple in color, it absolutely leaps from the glass with complex, gregarious notes of blackberry pie, plum preserves, smoked meats/charcuterie, mocha and licorice plus suggestions of cloves, black soil and unsmoked cigars. Full-bodied, rich, opulent and jaw-droppingly sexy, it has beautifully plush yet firm tannins with a lively backbone and a very long, spicy finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

An impressive wine that is showing the fleshy, concentrated, opulent side of the 2015 vintage, damson and black cherry given a kiss of oyster shell and sea spray salinity on the finish. Liquorice and cocoa bean add to the vintage signature, and this has decades ahead of it. The 2015 L'Évangile, which was made by previous winemaker Jean-Pierre Vazart, is outflanked by the Hosanna 2015 that preceded it. This lacks a bit of vigor and tension. Light cedar and truffle scents emerge with time. Interestingly, two bottles tasted in New York at Vinous Icons were fresher and livelier than the one in London. The palate is slightly better with a viscous texture. It's powerful and oaky, with good density and decent freshness toward the toasty finish. It actually finishes on a high note, hence my score, but the aromatics are found wanting. Tasted at the 2015 Ten-Year-On tasting at Bordeaux Index and at the Vinous Icons seminar in New York.
