Kühling-Gillot Qvinterra Riesling 2024 is a dry white wine from the Rheinhessen region, crafted by Carolin Spanier-Gillot, known for her dedication to biodynamic viticulture. This estate bottling combines fruit from diverse vineyards across five villages, primarily located on the red slate slopes of Roter Hang, contributing to its distinct minerality. Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, the wine achieves a balanced expression, showcasing notes of Nectarine, Pink Grapefruit, and an iron-like character. At 12% alcohol, it reflects the spicy, saline qualities of the Nackenheim and Nierstein areas, affirming the estate`s commitment to revealing the intricacies of its terroir in an accessible format.
90 Vinous
The 2024 Riesling Qvinterra is the estate wine picked mostly in Oppenheim, mostly from the classified site of the Sackträger, with an addition of fruit from the Red Slope. The merest flicker of reduction mingles with red apple peel and savory, crushed yarrow. The palate is light but zesty, carrying its lovely savor but also vivid yellow fruit and citrus. VDP Gutswein.
Fumy, flinty introduction overlaid with green apple and peach. As fruity as the nose starts, the dry palate snaps into focus with vibrant limey tension, brisk acidity, citrus peel and dainty green-meadow herbs. Deep, surprisingly full and focused for a Gutsriesling, showing beautiful generosity and spicy, shaping contours. (PS)
