Clos du Mesnil is a rare blanc de blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84-hectare plot in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The 1992 vintage is considered to be one of the best releases in the history of the wine. The growing season was perfect, with warm days and cool nights. The grapes were harvested at the perfect ripeness, and the wine was made with great care. The nose reveals a bouquet of ripe citrus fruits, white flowers, toasted almonds, and subtle mineral nuances. The palate is rich, creamy, and layered, with notes of lemon, pear, honey, and a touch of brioche.
The 1992 Clos du Mesnil require quite a bit of air to open up. It is an unusual Clos du Mesnil marked by elements of botrytis that lend it an exotic air. There is plenty of power and the reserve to age well for many more years.Antonio Galloni1st July 2011

Elegant Luxury
A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.
While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
