Kongsgaard Chardonnay 2017 exhibits a complex profile characterised by aromas of crème brûlée, orange blossoms and lemon curd, underpinned by notes of ripe apricot and pineapple. The palate is full-bodied, presenting layers of exotic fruit and citrus, with a silky texture complemented by vibrant acidity. The finish is notably lengthy. Kongsgaard Winery, founded by John Kongsgaard, is known for its commitment to traditional winemaking methods in Napa Valley, focusing on small lots and meticulous vineyard management to explore the potential of Chardonnay.

The 2017 Chardonnay is a classic Kongsgaard Chardonnay. Rich and viscous in the glass with tremendous structure, the 2017 possesses remarkable depth and pure power. A classic hint of reduction adds nuance. Tropical and floral overtones add character to a wine that really demands attention; it's got mine, that's for sure. This is a fabulous wine.

A Cult Favorite: Precision and Power in Every Glass

Kongsgaard is a name that echoes through the valleys of Napa as one of the most distinguished boutique wineries in the region. Founded by John Kongsgaard, whose winemaking philosophy is deeply rooted in minimalism and a profound respect for the land, the estate produces wines that are powerful yet nuanced. Kongsgaard’s approach involves minimal intervention, allowing the terroir to speak for itself through the vines. The estate is particularly renowned for its Chardonnay, which exhibits intense minerality, vibrant acidity, and a rich, complex palate. In addition to Chardonnay, Kongsgaard’s Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon also enjoy cult status, with small production volumes ensuring their rarity and desirability. These wines are a true reflection of Napa Valley’s potential to produce world-class, terroir-driven wines.
