Karuizawa Cask 2077 1981 is a single cask Japanese malt, renowned within whisky circles for its origins from the now-closed Karuizawa Distillery in Nagano Prefecture. Distilled in 1981, this expression matured for 31 years in a Sherry butt before being bottled in 2012 at 61.8% ABV, marking the 10th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky. The whisky is produced from Golden Promise barley, utilising small, direct-fired stills that impart a rich mouthfeel. The profile includes notes of dark chocolate, old leather, tobacco, and dried black cherries, complemented by a distinct mineral character from the Nagano terroir. Cask 2077 reflects the distillery`s reputation for creating complex, high-aged expressions, making it essential for collectors and connoisseurs.
