Karuizawa 39 Year Old Cask 1607 1973 is a limited-release single cask Japanese malt whisky, distilled in December 1973 and bottled in July 2013 for La Maison du Whisky. This expression matured in an ex-Sherry cask, reaching a natural strength of 67.7% ABV, with only 138 bottles produced, positioning it as one of the rarest offerings from Karuizawa. The whisky showcases a distinctive profile with aromas of wood varnish, coffee beans, dark chocolate, and tobacco, finished with subtle cooling mint notes. The distillation process involved small, direct-fired stills, which contributed to its robust character, emblematic of the unique Nagano climate and the vintage’s high evaporation rates.
