Crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this 2010 vintage originates from Jim Barry`s Benbournie vineyard in Clare Valley, Australia. Known for its low-yielding vines and ancient rocky soils, the vineyard delivers fruit characterised by exceptional phenolic maturity, thanks to a favourable growing season. The wine is a product of a 12-month maturation in French oak, achieving an alcohol content of 14.5%. The profile reveals notes of blackcurrant, eucalyptus, and dark chocolate, while maintaining a focus on structural elegance rather than extraction. The finish offers firm, integrated tannins alongside a persistent, mineral nuance typical of Clare Valley`s cool climate.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 The Benbournie Cabernet Sauvignon opens with alluring creme de cassis and floral aromas accented by violets, mint, some cloves and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, it is richly textured with firm, fine tannins, a very fresh acid line and a long finish. It should age though is approachable now and will drink to 2015+.

Deep ruby. Heady, smoke-accented aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, floral pastilles and vanilla carry a strong peppery spice topnote. Smooth, expansive and seamless in the mouth, offering concentrated blackberry, cherry cola and floral pastille flavors and a sweetening suggestion of mocha. At once weighty and energetic, finishing with powerful, smoky thrust, harmonious tannins and persistent florality. Josh Raynolds1st October 2017
