Speyside's Coastal Malt

Located on the outskirts of Buckie in Moray, Inchgower was built by Alexander Wilson & Company to replace the Tochineal distillery in 1871. The distillery’s coastal location contributes a distinctly spicy, saline character to its new make, while ageing in predominantly ex-Sherry casks produces a smooth, delicately nutty Speyside malt valued in such popular blends as Bell’s and Johnnie Walker.

Only a tiny fraction of Inchgower single malt is bottled separately. Official bottlings are particularly rare and increasingly attract the attention of collectors. Three official single malt bottlings have been released: a 14-year-old released as part of Diageo’s Flora & Fauna range, plus a 22-year-old and a 27-year-old released as part of the cask-strength Rare Malts Selection. In addition, a relatively broad range of age-statement and vintage malts have been released by the likes Gordon & MacPhail and Hunter Laing.
