Established by the Moueix family in 1999, Château Hosanna is a relatively new addition to the Pomerol wine landscape. Spanning approximately 4.5 hectares, the estate is planted primarily with Merlot and some Cabernet Franc. The 2021 release is marked by its fleshiness, offering up aromas of sweet plums and berries intertwined with spices, liquorice, rose petals, and earthy soil. With a medium to full-bodied profile, the palate reveals a lively and charming wine that is likely to develop added depth and structure during further ageing.

The 2021 Hosanna offers a solid showing in bottle, mingling aromas of cassis and minty blueberries with notions of baking chocolate, licorice and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it`s comparatively rich for the vintage, with sweet, powdery tannins and a spicy finish. - William Kelley

The 2021 Hosanna is a pretty, understated wine. In 2021, Hosanna is quite floral and delicate, without is typical rich personality. In exchange, it will drink well right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, spice and orange peel linger.Antonio Galloni27th February 2024

This remains tight in its tannic constuction even after the softening impact of barrel ageing, and a slight dip in the mid palate shows the imprint of the vintage, but there is also a delcious textural slate character, and the whole thing feels sculpted, rising through the palate, with an edge of smoked caramel sweeetness alongside the brambled berry fruits. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 Hosanna has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. With coaxing, it reluctantly gives up delicate scents of juicy plums and blackberries, followed by touches of cast-iron pan, cedar chest, and Sichuan pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate is plush with well-knit acidity supporting the elegantly styled black fruit flavors, finishing on a mineral note.Lisa Perrotti-Brown23rd April 2024

75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample.Savoury and meaty, full and round with some drive on the finish. Tannins fine but less power and intensity than recent years. Harmonious all the same. (JL)

Chateau Hosanna

An Historic Pomerol Estate

The Hosanna estate in Pomerol dates back to the 16th century, when it was known as "Certan Giraud." However, it wasn't until the 1990s that the estate gained recognition for its outstanding wines, following a series of renovations and upgrades by its then-owners, the Moueix family. The vineyards of Château Hosanna cover approximately 4.5 hectares and are planted with predominantly Merlot, as well as smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc. The vines have an average age of 35 years and are grown using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

The winemaking at Château Hosanna is focused on producing wines which communicate the terroir of Pomerol - younger wines are deep, with a rich flavour profile and elegant structure. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and sorted, and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 22 months before bottling.
