Hosanna 2012 is a full-bodied Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Established by the Moueix family in 1999, Château Hosanna is a relatively young wine label in Pomerol. The estate comprises just 4.5 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vines grow on a combination of red gravel soils layered with clay and some sand. "Close to perfection, this extraordinary blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc seems to have hit all the high notes in 2012. Inky ruby/purple with stunning concentration, a multidimensional mouthfeel, skyscraper-like texture and fabulous purity of blue, red and black fruits, this is a tour de force from this estate owned by Christian Moueix. The potential complexity and sheer compelling quality of Hosanna is amazing. Aromatically, this may be the most profound wine of the vintage. Drink it over the next 15-20 years." Robert Parker, 2015

The 2012 Hosanna is medium to deep garnet colored. It reveals notions of warm kirsch, fruitcake, and dried roses with hints of anise and black tea. Medium-bodied, it has just enough fruit and chewy texture in the mouth to deliver a mature, well-poised expression and a soft-spoken finish. It's a wonderuflly elegant expression of the vintage that should give pleasure for another 10-12 years.Lisa Perrotti-Brown16th February 2023

The 2012 Hosanna is powerful on the nose and quite intense with red fruit, leather, animal fur and truffle. This could not be anything else but Pomerol. The palate is medium-bodied and well balanced with firm tannins and a fine bead of acidity, quite refined and poised, though not mind-boggling in terms of complexity. Yet it does convey a sense of style and panache, though there might be just a touch of brett on the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. Neal Martin27th September 2022

Chateau Hosanna

An Historic Pomerol Estate

The Hosanna estate in Pomerol dates back to the 16th century, when it was known as "Certan Giraud." However, it wasn't until the 1990s that the estate gained recognition for its outstanding wines, following a series of renovations and upgrades by its then-owners, the Moueix family. The vineyards of Château Hosanna cover approximately 4.5 hectares and are planted with predominantly Merlot, as well as smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc. The vines have an average age of 35 years and are grown using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

The winemaking at Château Hosanna is focused on producing wines which communicate the terroir of Pomerol - younger wines are deep, with a rich flavour profile and elegant structure. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and sorted, and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 22 months before bottling.
