Hosanna 2006 is a full-bodied red wine produced by Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix – the same family that owns Château Pétrus and Château Trotanoy – in Pomerol. This vintage consists predominantly of Merlot and a notable proportion of Cabernet Franc, selected from the estate’s prime vineyard plots. The wine exhibits a deep ruby colour, with an aromatic profile featuring dark berry fruits alongside nuances of coffee and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, it offers a structured mouthfeel with balanced acidity, culminating in a lengthy finish that reflects the vintage`s growing complexity.

Bright, full ruby-red. Compelling aromas of red cherry and raspberry liqueur, licorice, minerals, spices, mocha and coffee. Wonderfully opulent and broad, with full but not excessive ripeness and a classically dry impression for such a plush wine. A wonderfully sexy, quintessential Pomerol that finishes with terrific breadth, sweet tannins and an almost magically light touch. If this is not as good as the 2005, it's just a step behind.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2009

Chateau Hosanna

An Historic Pomerol Estate

The Hosanna estate in Pomerol dates back to the 16th century, when it was known as "Certan Giraud." However, it wasn't until the 1990s that the estate gained recognition for its outstanding wines, following a series of renovations and upgrades by its then-owners, the Moueix family. The vineyards of Château Hosanna cover approximately 4.5 hectares and are planted with predominantly Merlot, as well as smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc. The vines have an average age of 35 years and are grown using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

The winemaking at Château Hosanna is focused on producing wines which communicate the terroir of Pomerol - younger wines are deep, with a rich flavour profile and elegant structure. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and sorted, and the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 22 months before bottling.
