Hine Rare VSOP is a blend of 25 eaux-de-vie aged in the Hine cellars. It is a cognac made from grapes grown in the most prestigious regions. Grande and Petite Champagne. The spirit is aged in French oak casks for an average of eight years, and is marked by flavours of ripe apricot, melon and nectarine.

A blend of Grande and Petite Champagne with an average age of seven years. Deep copper with aromas of maple and lavender, and more dried fruit on the nose than the VSOP. Richer, more full-bodied and expansive in the mouth, offering soft pear, honey, salted toffee and subtle spice. Good structure, but the finish falls off a little bit. (40% abv).

Timeless Cognac Excellence

Hine is one of the world’s most recognisable brands of fine Cognacs. The company is named after Thomas Hine, a Dorset who moved to the Cognac region in 1791 and married into Cognac-producing family. The company of which he became a partner later assumed the name Thomas Hine and Co.

Rigorous selection of low-yielding Ugni Blanc grapes from Hine’s trusted crus of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, high quality control during winemaking, traditional distillation, extended ageing in seasoned oak barrels and a low evaporation rate of 2 to 3% each year result in small quantities of the finest Hine Cognacs, from the entry-level H By Hine right through to the prestige-cuvée Talent.

Hine is particularly renowned for Grande Champagne vintage Cognacs – particularly single-cask expressions – and is credited with being the first Cognac house to make such bottlings commercially available. The house is also known for its so-called ‘early-landed’ Cognacs – produced from barrels shipped from the company’s HQ in Jarnac to Bristol, where a combination of low temperature and high humidity creates a more delicate and fruity spirit.
