The Hermitage Les Bessards Delas 2006 is a single-vineyard of Northern Rhône Syrah, produced by Delas Frères, a winery with a history dating back to 1835. This wine is sourced from the esteemed Les Bessards vineyard, known for its exceptional granite terroir. The 2006 vintage is marked by balanced fruit expression and a robust structure. In the glass, it displays a dark hue and reveals aromas of black fruits, olive tapenade and subtle earthy nuances. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins and vibrant acidity, lending to a lingering, mineral-accented finish.

One of the wines of the vintage is unquestionably the 2006 Hermitage les Bessards, which comes from one of the greatest terroirs for Syrah in the world. Still youthful and vibrant, with those classic graphite and crushed rock characteristics that define this cuvee, as well as loads of black fruits, toasted spice and dried flowers, this beauty is full-bodied, uber-concentrated and gorgeously pure. It’s still 4-5 years away from full maturity, and is going to keep for 2-3 decades. - Jeb Dunnuck

Inky purple. Intensely perfumed nose displays a seductive bouquet of candied red and dark berries, kirsch, violet and minerals, plus a strong jolt of smoked meat. Spherical dark fruit flavors stain the palate, showing no rough edges and a slow-mounting floral pastille quality. Fresh, nervy and precise, with excellent finishing lift and precision. Manages to be powerful and graceful at the same time.Josh Raynolds1st January 2009
