The Sorrel family have been active in the town of Hermitage since 1893 and have come to be recognised as one of the leading producers of both red and white wines in the region. The Hermitage Blanc Les Rocoules is produced from a blend of 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne from a single lieu-dit with vines that are on average over 50 years of age.

The 2017 release is absolutely stunning, offering an incredibly intense core of decadent stone fruits with subtle layers of spices, citrus zest and crushed rock minerality. Powerful, mouthcoating and rich, with supreme inner complexity, focus and freshness, this has all of the hallmarks of a future great.

Vivid straw-yellow. A highly perfumed, powerful bouquet evokes ripe pear, peach nectar, anise, succulent flowers and saffron, while a smoky mineral note builds steadily in the glass. Sappy, seamless and finely detailed on the palate, offering densely packed orchard and pit fruit and honeysuckle flavors that are lifted and braced by a spine of dusty minerality and a hint of orange zest. Shows superb tenacity on the mineral-driven finish, leaving resonating floral and ripe orchard fruit notes behind.Josh Raynolds1st May 2020
