Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is a prestigious family-owned winery known for its long-standing tradition of winemaking excellence. The Chave family has been producing wines in the Rhône Valley for several generations and is renowned for their commitment to quality. The Hermitage Blanc is primarily made from Marsanne, with a smaller proportion of Roussanne. Marsanne brings structure, richness, and ageing potential to the blend, while Roussanne adds aromatic complexity and finesse. The 1991 vintage in the Rhône Valley was generally considered favourable. While many regions in France suffered significant damage due to harsh spring frosts, the Rhône Valley largely escaped their impact.

The fat, rich 1991 Hermitage blanc offers a big, juicy nose of Acacia flowers and honeyed fruit, medium to full body, and loads of flavor. While it is not as broadly-flavored or as powerful as the 1990 and 1989, it is a delicious, well-made, excellent example of white Hermitage that should last for 10-15 years.
